BIOS Setup

Before installing the OS, enter your motherboard’s BIOS / UEFI setup and apply the three changes below. All three are required for a healthy GPU host.

  • Secure Boot — Disabled. Meshive installs NVIDIA driver modules and other kernel components that are not signed against your motherboard’s default certificate store. Leaving Secure Boot on will cause the GPU driver to fail to load.

  • Resizable BAR — Enabled. Exposes the GPU’s full VRAM to the host as a single addressable region. Modern GPUs rely on this to advertise their full memory; without it you’ll see fallback BAR-size penalties and degraded performance.

  • Above 4G Decoding — Enabled. Required to allocate PCIe BAR space larger than 4 GB. Modern GPUs with large VRAM cannot enumerate correctly without this toggle on, which usually shows up as the GPU disappearing from lspci after boot.

After applying the changes, save and reboot. You are ready to install Ubuntu — continue to Install Ubuntu 24.04.
